Leslie Fitzpatrick, Ph.D., RPA

Leslie Fitzpatrick is a new Visiting Assistant Professor in the Applied Forensic Sciences Department. She comes to the Erie campus of Mercyhurst from the University of Wyoming where she completed her doctorate in anthropology in October 2017.

 

She specializes in the stable isotope analysis of human remains from forensic and archaeological settings. Leslie is a Registered Professional Archaeologist who has worked at field sites throughout the world including many in Peru, Mexico, Croatia, and the United States.

 

During her time at the University of Wyoming, she was awarded the Promoting Intellectual Engagement in the First Year Award (2014, 2015) and the university's highest teaching honor, the Ellbogen Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award (2016). In addition, she has been the recipient of numerous competitive research grants. Prior to attending the University of Wyoming, Leslie earned her MA in anthropology from Georgia State University (2012), a teaching certificate with an emphasis on secondary special education mathematics from the University of Georgia (2009), and a BS in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech (2000). She looks forward to engaging Mercyhurst students in field- and laboratory-based taphonomic studies as well as stable isotope analyses.
