HD Forensics - About Us
HD Forensics, in conjunction with Tripwire Operations Group and Mercyhurst University, serves as a training platform for law enforcement, medical examiners, and all other professionals involved in the recovery and processing of human remains in forensic contexts. Dennis Dirkmaat, Ph.D., D-ABFA, and FBI Special Agent Michael Hochrein (ret), serve as the lead training professionals in the areas of forensic anthropology and archaeology for Tripwire Operations Group.
Dirkmaat and Hochrein believe that uncovering the full story surrounding an outdoor homicide begins with and must include, the reconstruction of the outdoor crime scene. The primary question in homicide situations focuses on the identity of the individual. We strive to educate and inform law enforcement officers and medical examiners on the importance of outdoor crime scene reconstruction. After a death event occurs, there are many factors that can alter evidence such as human and animal intervention or changes in weather. Each manipulation of that evidence can have a profound effect on the conclusions we draw, impacting our understanding of how that individual died. It is our hope to provide the best possible training and create a better understanding of how to decode the outdoor crime scene.
HD Forensics training courses are currently being offered. Please visit our 2019 Courses page for more information.
